Trust the Monkey Trail

In our world of computers, our lives are often shaped by Google. There are times when I read something that sparks my interest, my imagination, my goals, and sometimes I am shown the way of the ‘Monkey Trail’ by Google Maps.

Go confidently down the way of the Monkey Trail – that back road adventure that suddenly you find yourself driving. It might be rocky and bumpy, crooked and loopy, surrounded by mountains, draped in trees and empty creek beds! There might be loud squealing noises, though you can’t actually see the monkeys. It might seem like you will never make it to the end of the road.

But, then – you go around one last bend in the road and breathtaking scenery appears on the horizon in the form of…you fill in the blank! That’s when you comprehend the dusty road led you just where you are supposed to be. Just because a path is a ‘road less traveled’ by others, does not mean it’s a dead end.

You choose to go home by the paved road, now that you see clearly where you need to go. But it was the ‘Monkey Trail’ that was paved with meaningful opportunities. The chance meeting, the new perspective.

Today’s action: be adventurous and take the scenic route somewhere today, instead of the tried and true route. When the dust clears, you just may see your next task much more clearly.
