Idealist? Or Realist? How do you view your world?

It has been an eternity, watching the newly repainted pool slowly fill up. I actually poured a few buckets of water into the pool today. I live much of the year in a private compound in Costa Rica. After a week of no swimming, I finally decided that 18 inches of depth was enough for a modified version of the Australian crawl.

Well, there’s a big smile on my face, but scrapes on my hands. Because the pool is only half full. And the metaphor of the glass (pool) half empty or full has a few of us smiling.  And our perceptions on life are very evident!

In an influence-based conversation, your self-perception makes a big difference. Do you think your audience won’t listen to you?  Do you think you don’t have enough credibility? Do you think you’re inept at speaking in public? Do you think when you meet someone influential it’s one shot takes all? Is your pool half empty?

The list of negative paradigms we can feel never ends. Most of them flare up full-force when you’re dealing with situations of influence.

Today’s exercise -Believe that for today, you are good enough, strong enough, smart enough. Take on that people want what you have to proffer. And give your ego (identity) the job of recognizing when you feel disconnected from this. Just notice.
Do not act or react.
And at bedtime, journal what you saw.
