Courage is never tidy

Screen Shot 2015-06-22 at 10.24.48 PMEntrepreneurship takes courage. Anything worthwhile always does.

You see something that needs to be made better in the world, come up with an idea, then face all the nay-sayers who think you’re crazy for trying the unthinkable.

Yet it is often the unthinkable that most needs doing. Consider what it takes for a 15 year old Pakistani girl to win a Nobel Peace Prize. After being shot by the Taliban for fighting for schooling for girls in Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai stunned Jon Stewart to powerful silence on The Daily Show when she procliamed “You must fight others through peace and through dialogue and through education. ”  If attached by a taliban soldier, she told Jon Stewart she would simply say “I even want education for your children as well. Now do what you want.”

It is the untidying and raw humanity of Malala that has us fall in love with her.

A powerful lesson.

Yet it is not typically in the large grand gestures that courage is found. But in the daily actions that move you forward to being of greater service to the world.

Two things you can do right now to move forward courageously:

1. what’s your big outrageous goal? Is it big enough that it scares you? Spend 20 minutes working on it right now.

2. who is your dream team of supporters you’d like to be in relationship with? Pick one of them and share their content with your social media.

Now do what you want. The world needs more raw, untidy courage.

How to use CreateSpace and Ingram Spark together – by Karen Myers

KarenMyers-JoePadula-200-253I ran across this article by Karen Myers that is one of the best overviews of the two systems I’ve seen.
The only thing Missing I’d add is for those of you thinking about taking a run at #1 International Bestselling Author Status.  Ingram is clearly the stronger choice for international distribution, with significantly lower prices and distribution globally.  They can also get you a listing, which CreateSpace does not do.  So just an added point to consider.  How big do you want to launch to be?

How to Use Createspace and Ingram Spark Together

In a useful follow-up to Jim Giammatteo’s invaluable Watchdog piecerecommending that indie authors use both CreateSpace and Lightning Source simultaneously for effective distribution of print books, US novelist Karen Myers kindly volunteered to provide a personal case study of how this system works for her.The following observations reflect my personal understanding of the differences between the two services, based on my own and others’ observations. They do not include private information received from any of the vendors involved.
